  4.       RMS-III: Reference Management System has been expanded and improved
  5.       since first released as version 2.4a in 1989 (then called RSX).
  6.  
  7.       The current version, 3.2d, further enhances the program capabilities.
  8.       However, data files have not changed since version 2.4f; they are
  9.       fully compatible from 2.4f to 3.2d.
  10.  
  11.          NOTE: If you have installed a prior version of the TSX utility,
  12.          you must re-install it with installation of RMS-III, 3.2d.
  13.  
  14.       >> Mismatching of RMS-III and TSX versions will cause problems.<<

  16.       Corrections and improvements are often the result of user feedback,
  17.       so please forward ANY comments. Thanks.

  19.   Recent changes:
  20.  
  21.       Recent changes are detailed in the file WHATSNEW.DOC.  If you have
  22.       used previous versions, this file should help you quickly understand
  23.       the new features. In particular, ESC key exits and cancels are now
  24.       more stable and usable. Also, much more on-line help is available
  25.       with the F1 key. Setup operations (colors, preferences, and paths)
  26.       are completely revised.  There is a new rapid scan record dislpay,
  27.       changes in search and utility operations, and new WordPerfect Macros.
  28.       An installation problem was fixed.

  31.   Known Problems/Limitations:
  32.  
  33.       1. Occurrence of square bracket characters, [], in the Abstract/Memo
  34.          field can sometimes cause problems. Try to avoid their use.
  35.  
  36.       2. Repeated editing of abstract/memo data can cause the memo file
  37.          to become large and corruptable (a classic dBase III problem).
  38.          File stability can be improved using the CONDENSE utility.
  39.  
  40.       3. The generation of Topical Lists/Indexes can be very slow if
  41.          (a) your machine is slow, and/or (b) DOS-SHARE is loaded so that
  42.          you cannot start RMS-III with the `-ns' parameter (see manual).
  43.  
  44.       4. References with both authors and editors can be awkward to match
  45.          to some publication format requirements. In RMS-III, editors names
  46.          are usually cited in the SOURCE entry (with `Ed. by' notation).
  47.          This may require manual post-processing in your word processor.
  48.  
  49.       5. Diacritical (accented) characters é, ô, à, ü, etc. can be entered
  50.          in RMS-III records.  BUT, they must also be used in searches.
  51.          ALSO, many printers are not set up for them and errors will result.
  52.          Check your system before using them.
  53.  
  54.       6. Attempts to write to an already full disk or to use an index file
  55.          not matching the database file may cause FATAL ERRORS. The first
  56.          problem is cought most (not all) times; the second is minimized
  57.          if the operation is stopped and the index deactivated or updated.
  58.  
  59.       7. RMS-III does not yet support use of a mouse and in some cases the
  60.          mouse causes problems; if this occurs, try setting the mouse OFF.
